Questions and answers
Why are you running for this position, whether for re-election or a first election? Is there a particular problem that motivates you?
Lake County deserves better leadership than the current occupier and his hand-picked successors.
Lake County needs fresh ideas. It is time for my generation to lead. If elected, I will be the first Latino to be elected to the Board of Directors to represent our growing Latino community!
If you hold, describe your main contributions. Tell us about the important initiatives you have led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would be your priority?
As Navy Corpsman, we are trained to triage and prioritize casualties. I will convey this state of mind to the board of directors and management. The Navy also teaches leaders to be consensus builders and that is exactly what I will do as a board member.
Outline your position regarding the county’s spending-revenue balance as it exists today, then outline the major threats that lie ahead and how the county should address them.
I believe good governance is good finance. A lot of people are suffering right now because of the financial stress that everyone is feeling in the country. I believe the average citizen of Lake County is starting to be spread too thinly and this is the main threat that I believe will have a lasting impact on our budget.
How do you rate the county government on transparency and public access to records? If sufficient, explain why. If you think improvements are needed, outline them.
I think access to county meetings and records is adequate, but I think more can be done at the individual member level to reach more voters. Most people don’t know what the county council or their current members do.
What, if anything, needs to be done to improve automation and customer service in county offices? What steps need to be taken to make this happen?
Incorporate new technologies and revise them regularly if anything else is needed.
