NORRSITOWN – For 44 years, ACLAMO has provided educational programs, social services, and access to health and wellness programs to Latinos and other members of the community to enable them to realize their full life potential. After 8 years as President of ACLAMO, Dr Houghton Kane hands over the role to Gloria Lopez-Pesini.

ACLAMO Executive Director Nelly Jimenez and staff warmly thank Dr. Kane for his dedicated service as President. Dr. Kane will continue to serve on the Board of Directors as a regular member.

Lopez-Pesini has been involved with ACLAMO since 2013 and was inducted into the Board of Directors in 2020. “I am honored and honored to become Chairman of the Board. What motivated me to take on this role is why and how ACLAMO helps the Latino community, which they do in a holistic way: Antonio, a single father of two, has two jobs but still needs help. ACLAMO to pay the rent to protect him and his children from eviction; Maria and Rocio came to the United States two years ago, and ACLAMO teachers helped them improve their English skills so they could graduate from high school; and Mateo, an elderly person who needed help filing his medical claims but could not have done so without our community health worker fighting on behalf of his case, ”Lopez-Pesini said.

She continues, “It’s stories like these, and the motivation of ACLAMO’s resilient employees, that improve the lives of our customers every day, that inspire me to support our mission. I am very proud to become Chairman of the Board of Directors and to work alongside ACLAMO employees, the dedicated Board of Directors, generous volunteers and stakeholders.

ACLAMO is also pleased to announce the addition of four new members to the Board of Directors:

Dr. Sadia Benzaquen – President of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy for Einstein Medical Center

Margarita Villa – Mechanical Design Engineer for Exelon Nuclear Ms. Christine Hagedorn – Assistant Professor at Rosemont College

Michelle Brown – Executive Director of Enrollment Management at Montgomery County Community College

The ACLAMO Board of Directors is made up of volunteers from several sectors of finance, law, education, real estate and energy. Together, they provide guidance to make sure we achieve our goals by doing what we do best: serving the community.
