“It’s exciting to see the number of major funders and venture capital groups investing in Latin American startups grow!” In 2020, we launched Angeles Investors with the aim of raising awareness in the venture capital industry of all that the Latin American startup community has to offer. Fast forward two years, we now have a roster of 40 Estrellas helping us achieve this goal, and we’re just getting started,” said Adela CepedaChairman of the Board of Angeles Investors and Director at BMO Financial Corporation.
It was a priority of Chingona Ventures to provide access and opportunity to the Latin American startup community, where access to funding – the fuel needed to grow their businesses – is a constant struggle.
“I was fortunate to have the support of the Latinx community early in fundraising, including many Angeles members. We need organizations like ours to invest in and support the startup community where founders receive less than 1% of all venture funding,” said Samara Mejia Hernandezfounding partner of Chingona Ventures.
Nominations for the Angeles Estrellas Award are invited from Angeles Members, partners and the general public. Winners are evaluated on the amount of startups invested, total dollars invested, and their commitment to the Hispanic and Latinx startup ecosystem.
