WATCH: Senator Cruz hits Biden’s inflation crisis on Squawk Box: Democrats’ solution is to pour gasoline on the fire
On President Biden’s inflation crisis and the Democrats’ reckless spending, Senator Cruz said:
“Inflation is raging across the country, November figures point to 6.8% inflation. This is the highest inflation this country has experienced since 1982, almost 40 years ago. In the end, it’s not complicated. When you spend billions of dollars that you don’t have, when you print money, when you borrow billions of dollars, when you increase the money supply, you drive up inflation. This cause and this effect have been true since the dawn of time. It’s true now. And you know, you mentioned that the debt ceiling, the Senate voted yesterday, the House voted early this morning. The current debt is $ 28.9 trillion. Today Joe Biden is about to sign a bill increasing that by $ 2.5 trillion, the biggest debt ceiling increase in our country’s history.–This is unheard of. Two and a half billion dollars at the stroke of a pen, and that doesn’t pay a dime out of Bernie Sanders’ socialist budget, what they call “Build Back Better,” what more and more Americans are calling ” Build Back Broke ”. ‘ That’s another trillion somewhere between $ 3, 4, and $ 5 trillion on top of the $ 2.5 trillion, on top of the $ 28.9 trillion. The fire of inflation is raging and the Democrats’ solution, unfortunately, is simply to pour gasoline on it. They want more of what causes inflation, and if they can, we’re going to have a lot more inflation, which hurts the most vulnerable among us, especially the elderly. The elderly are hit by inflation, and this White House doesn’t seem to care. “
“If you look at the 2017 tax cut, that tax cut was focused on jobs, it was focused on tax cuts on job creators, and the goal was to create more jobs to increase wages, to bring manufacturing back to America. It has worked extraordinarily well. We saw that in 2019 we had the lowest unemployment rate in 40 years with the lowest African American unemployment rate on record, the lowest Hispanic unemployment rate on record. Median wages have increased, poverty has fallen; it succeeded. By the way, their line that ‘he was not paid’ when we cut taxes in 2017, the next year federal tax revenues went up, and the next year federal tax revenues went up and they went up every year thereafter, so they generated more revenue because of economic growth and productivity and more jobs. Compare that with the “Build Back Broke”, you know there’s actually a big tax cut in ‘Build Back Broke’, but it’s a tax cut for Democratic donors. It’s a tax cut for millionaires and billionaires in the big blue states because one of the costliest parts of the bill is that they repeal the limit on state and local tax deductions. Now compare the two: The 2017 tax cuts focused on job creators – more jobs for working men and women. Democrats repealing the SALT deduction [cap] doesn’t create a single job, but I’ll tell you what it does. It rewards wealthy Democratic donors to Blue States, number one and number two, and encourage local politicians to raise taxes further. Democrats are not fighting for working men and women, they are not fighting for social security for the elderly who are on a fixed budget, who with inflation now sees the cost of food skyrocket, see the cost of gasoline going through the roof, the cost of houses and cars and mortgages, and the rent all going up through the roof. Giving a tax giveaway to billionaires who are Democratic donors does not benefit them at all. But that’s what the democratic priority is–they take care of their buddies in government.
On President Biden’s illegal COVID vaccine mandates, Senator Cruz said:
“We have seen that Democratic politicians are authoritarian. They will control your life, they will order you to obey, and they will destroy you if you don’t. Take the state of New York. This week alone, sadly, the Supreme Court failed to take a case, an emergency appeal, from New York City doctors and nurses, frontline medical workers who heroically fought this pandemic from the start. They are now facing a vaccination warrant. These doctors and nurses choose not to be vaccinated for religious reasons, and they face a dismissal order. Number one, they’re going to be fired. Number two, the New York government, in a truly punitive and vindictive way, says, “We are going to fire you and you are not eligible for unemployment.. So we’re just going to punish you. I have to say that is wrong. My take on vaccines is simple. I am pro vaccine. I have been vaccinated, my family has been vaccinated. I encourage people to get vaccinated, especially if you are part of a vulnerable population, very old or have diabetes, or overweight. I think being vaccinated makes sense. But I also believe in individual freedom, in individual responsibility. It’s your business to make the medical decisions in your life and no petty government tyrant has the right to order you to undergo medical intervention and Joe Biden and the Democrats are perfectly comfortable saying it doesn’t. doesn’t matter. “
“As I roam the country, literally every day, there hasn’t been a day that I wasn’t stopped by soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, where I wasn’t stopped by pilots from line and flight attendants or medics or nurses, or firefighters or cops coming in and saying, “Thank you for fighting against this vaccination mandate.” “ Take Chicago. The Chicago Police Union says more than a third of Chicago police officers refuse to comply with a vaccination warrant. Joe Biden was asked what to do about it. He said, ‘Get them started, fire a third of the cops in Chicago.’ By the way, he said the same thing about the New York firefighters. I’m proud to be with the Chicago Police Union, I’m proud to be with the New York Firefighters Union. These vaccines [mandates] are wrong. The government does not have to order you to make health care choices that should be a choice for you and your doctor, and you should weigh the costs and benefits to your life and your health. “
“In the airlines, we are seeing slippery delays one after the other because they lack pilots and crews, and they lack air traffic controllers. These policies make no sense. Moreover, when challenged in court, we’ve seen complainants come in and challenge. Biden has four immunization mandates: one for active duty military personnel, one for federal civilian employees, one for federal contractors, and one for private employers with 100 or more employees. When these are challenged in court, over and over again, the courts overturn them, concluding that they are illegal, they are unconstitutional. They go beyond the authority of the federal government.
