The American Association of Community Colleges has appointed the president of the College of Southern Nevada, Dr. Federico Zaragoza, as co-chair of the association’s influential Economic and Workforce Development Commission. Zaragoza was appointed to the AACC board in July.
The Economic and Workforce Development Commission works to address skills gaps by strongly focusing vocational and technical education on preparing students for the knowledge and skills required for current jobs and futures in regional and global economies. It aims to showcase cutting-edge innovation in the workforce and economic development with proven results that improve student success while providing affordable, high-quality technical assistance in areas that support success. students.
Appointed ninth and first Latin President of the College of Southern Nevada in 2018, Dr Zaragoza previously served as Dean of Continuing Education for Milwaukee Area Technical College in Wisconsin and Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development at Alamo Colleges in Texas. .
Zaragoza’s three-year term on the AACC Board of Directors runs until June 30, 2024.
